Associating existing invoices with a new project
I created an estimate which I then turned into an invoice.
Later I added the project that this invoice is in relation to. Can I now associate the already created invoice with the new project?

Inappropriate?Hello Michael,
If your invoice is still in draft, you can indeed.
To do this, find the invoice on the Invoicing screen.
Click Edit Details.
You should then be able to change the project selection from No Project to the project in question.
Does that work, please?
Kind regards,
Emily -
Inappropriate?Hello Michael,
No problem. Please don't hesitate to ask if you have any further queries.
Kind regards,
Emily
I’m happy too

Inappropriate?Michael,
What's the logic behind not letting invoices or estimates being associated to projects after they have been created?

Inappropriate?I think this is a related question: I have created a project, have a (paid) invoice for it, and costs, but I can't link these all together. I have tried to do it by removing the explanation from the bank so I can edit the invoice, but that doesn't work either - no projects at all are available in the drop-down menu under the invoice draft. Help!

Inappropriate?Hello Madomat,
Could I please ask, which currency is the project in, and which currency is the invoice in?
If there's a mismatch, for example the project is in Euros but the invoice is in £ sterling, or all your projects are in £ sterling but this invoice is in Euros, you won't be able to link them.
Does that help, please?
Kind regards,
Emily -
Inappropriate? They're both in Euros. But the invoice is from before the date I assigned for FreeAgent to start - could that be why?
-
Inappropriate?It might be.
Could you try setting up another invoice (you can always delete that invoice) and see if you can link that one to the project?
Kind regards,
Emily -
Inappropriate?Hi Emily,
I just set up a new invoice and I can't link that to a project either. Am sending you a screen grab to the support address. Thanks. -
Inappropriate? Also is there any way to make alterations to paid invoices without deleting the bank transaction associated with it? It would be great to have some sort of "override" to be able to edit the paid invoices.
-
Inappropriate?Hi Madelyn,
The answer to your second question is "I'm afraid not". You would need to either delete the bank transaction if you'd entered it manually, or remove the explanation if you'd explained an uploaded transaction.
We're looking at the original question in the support console. Thanks for sending the screengrab.
Kind regards,
Emily -
Inappropriate?Calling all users for some feedback please!
Madelyn has asked if it would be possible to have non-contact specific projects in FreeAgent (so you could send invoices to several different contacts, for the same project).
Would this be something other users would find useful, please?
Thanks!
Emily -
Inappropriate?Another use for the multiple contacts per project would be for a long-term project: in my case I am selling greeting cards to people alongside my main business (graphic design) so I would like to make the greeting card part into a project - but it has various contacts/customers.
