Change task name after it has been used for a timeslip
Would be great to be able chaning a task name, even after it has been used for a timeslip.
Can be handy when I've misspelled a task name, or just want to make a task name more specific.

The company has this under consideration.

Inappropriate?Hmm...
I've created 4 projects to time track (overhead in) my own company:
- New Oceans (general)
- New Oceans Multimedia
- New Oceans Photography
- New Oceans Travelogue
These projects have budgets and billing rates of zero, and don't have to be invoiced.
I want to add time slips, which means I need to define project tasks.
The thing is, once I've created a task and used this for a slip, it's not possible to change the task name anymore.
Example 1.
Imagine, I've created a taks "Consult business coach". Then, one day in the near future, I want to rename the task from "Consult business coach" to "Consult supportive supervisor" (so I can used it not just for my start advisor, but for other advisors as well - make it widely applicable).
Not possible. Just because the task has been used for a timeslip.
Example 2.
Imagine, I've created a task "Web desgni". After a few weeks I see the task name is not correct. Then I want to change "Web desgni" into "Web design".
Not possible. For the same reason: the task has been used for a timeslip.
Example 3.
Imagine, I've created tasks:
1 abc
11 def
12 ghi
2 xyz
I'm using the numbers (code) to order them. Then I discover there's another task, "jkl", which I want to be presented between "def" and "ghi" (because that's the order these task will be carried out). Then I want to create a situation (tasklist):
1 abc
11 def
12 jkl
13 ghi
2 xyz
Not possible. Because I can't rename "12 ghi" into "13 ghi" (as "12 ghi" has been used in a timeslip).
Do you guys think in the near future it'll be possible to change task names? If no, I feel resisted to define tasks for time tracking the overhead in my own company.
I’m confident it won't be a big issue.

Inappropriate?Alright, may be I'm digging too deep...
What if I try to make better use of the comment field? Than I can keep the task names fairly simple (in such way that they won't be changed in the near future e.g. "education", "traveling", "accounting", "acquisition" et cetera), and fill in all the details in the editable comment field.
Yep!
I guess that's the way I'll start :D
Though I still think it would be useful to have editable task names... I've seen this at 14dayz.com and must say: it's useful.
I’m happy and think everything will be alright.

Inappropriate?Hi Marc
Yes, using Comments is a good workaround for now.
We'll discuss the possibility of allowing Task names to be modified even when associated with a timeslip though since we may be being too strict in this case. -
Inappropriate?Good to hear Olly.
For now, I've started using fairly simple names (acquisition, marketing, ICT, accounting, et cetera). The details are in the comment field. Works pretty good!
But nice to know this might change in the future, which I think is great.
Thnx!
I’m happy.

Inappropriate?Olly, I've got same problem few times as well. After mispelling something when you adding timeslip and task at the same time it takes few minutes to change it while we should be able to do it in second. I also think it is too strict and this limitation is probably not really necessary from the coding perspective - I would imagine you link tasks and time slips by their ids and not their names?
I’m optimistic
