create multiple invoices from one quote
I'm enjoying using the new estimates function :) but I'd like to be able to create multiple invoices from the original quote. Is there a way of doing this?
Our quote/sales/payment process goes like this;
I create a quote using FAC and email to the client. Client agrees quote (hurrah!). For larger projects we provide a payment plan of 4 invoices spread over the course of the project (usually 30%, 30%, 30%, 10%). I would like to create multiple invoices out of the original quote. It doesn't matter if these are straight up copies as I can amend the details myself.
Does this functionality exist and I'm missing something? If not, is this likely to be implemented?

Inappropriate?Melanie,
Sorry for the delay in replying.
There's no direct way of doing this right now, as you've noticed.
We're definitely planning to improve the Estimate > (Project) > Invoice flow so it can support this kind of thing, though.
Are these single-line invoices you're creating, along the lines of:
"30% progress payment against Estimate 045"?
Would a simple 'duplicate this invoice' function help?
Also, if we supported converting estimates into projects (in this case a fixed-price one), would it be useful to see progress invoices/payments against the overall price? -
Inappropriate?Dear Ed
Usually we create single line invoices exactly as you suggest so a simple duplicate invoice function would be enough. A duplicate invoice would be useful anyway, aside from the estimating feature.
Are you saying then that the estimate would be detailed but you would be able to create a one line invoice from that?
So, for example; I create a detailed estimate>send to client>client agrees>I convert to invoice>?delete all the items?>add new item>duplicate invoice number of required times>send to client.
It would be useful to see the progress against the whole price, although as there are usually only four payments I have a pretty good idea of where we are and it's fairly straightforward to work it out. So, it would be a 'nice to have' but not essential.
I’m unsure

Inappropriate?Any more news on this? I too create estimates like this, where each line item is a separate milestone which would be billed at different times. So each week I'd create an invoice from one or more of the line items from that project's estimate. Does that make sense?
