Feature Request: Tax Reminders
I've just noticed that my VAT return period (31st March 2008) has just passed. I know it's possible to have iCal additions for the tax timeline, but a reminder email when the VAT return period has passed (and the PAYE EOY period, or company accounts, etc) would be a very useful addition.
The tax timeline states when the tax is due, but not when the return needs to be made.
Hope this makes sense. I'm off to get a coffee now.

The tax timeline should already contain entries for both the tax payment and return due dates.
The email reminders are a nice idea - would a uniform 7 days prior to each due date be about right?

The 'Tax Timeline' gives the due date as 7 Jan 09 for the VAT return. But isn't it due (online) a week earlier (30 Dec)? -
@CN This is really strange! As well as having seven extra days to pay you have seven extra days to submit the return.

Regarding the reminders, 7 days sounds good to me although it would be ideal if we could enter a variable number of days for the reminder. Perhaps (and this is just a suggestion) this could be done in the same way that payment-terms-in-days in the invoice inherits from normal-payment-terms* from the project. Perhaps set the "remember to pay" reminder in the project with the text to be emailed and then the equivilent in the invoice to override if necessary.
It's not urgent, but it would be very nice :)

Inappropriate?I think a whole bunch of reminders for date based activities would be grand...I vote for 7 days too - I wouldn't want to overegg the 'spec' - but an email reminder of anything listed in the tax timeline would be useful.

@Ed; I really like the Companies House deadline addition. Not so much for the deadline (which are not hard to commit to memory), but because FreeAgent is moving slowly and steadily towards becoming a true total "one stop" shop for contractors and small service-orientated businesses. I'm looking forward to seeing what you're going to do next (and fingers crossed for the improvement to expenses :P)
