File format for CSV files - manually creating them
What the the file format for uploading CSV files?
Unfortunately HSBC only allows to download transactions for the last three months and only one month for credit cards (on which planet fo they live?).
That means I need to hack in one year or better two years of transactions for 5 accounts.
My plan is to scan the paperstatements, import them into Excel, create a CSV and import them.
But what is the format for a CSV file expected by freeagent.
Would tools like Exceltoqif also work?

Inappropriate?Hi tomanizer
We support multiple CSV formats but the simplest is that used by AMEX which just has three fields: Date, Amount, Description. There is no header, the date format is dd/mm/yyyy and the description is in double quotes. Here's an example:
22/05/2008,29.38,"FreeAgent Central Subscription"
22/05/2008,-15.99,"Remittance"
I'd be interested to hear if ExceltoQIF works!
I’m happy

Inappropriate?I know this is an old topic, but just in case someone else has the same problem (yeah, I'm an HSBC customer too)...
Excel creates CSV files without the quotes, so I couldn't get them to import into FAC. To get round this, I opened the Excel spreadsheet in Open Office (www.openoffice.org, free software) and exported from there.
I’m happy
