How can I record bank interest received?
I'm new to FreeAgent and have an account with a bank that doesn't have an option for exporting statements. How can I manually record bank transactions such as bank interest that don't relate to invoices or bills?

Hi Andrew,
To add any type of bank account entry manually, visit Banking then click on the relevant bank account. On this screen you can add a manual entry by clicking on either the Add Manual Money In or Add Manual Money Out buttons:

(they actually take you to the same screen, just with different default options selected)
The Bank Account Interest category can by found by selecting Money In > Other Money In from the Type drop down:

And Interest Received is the default category for this bank account entry type:

So, all the different categories of money in (or out) can be found by using these Type and Category drop downs.
Out of interest, which bank are you using? We'll get in touch with them and encourage them to start offering a downloadable statement.
I’m happy

Inappropriate? Thanks, I thought there would be a simple answer!
After struggling to use my accountant's own on-line system for the past 7 years, switching to FreeAgent makes life so much easier and it looks great too!
In answer to your question - I signed up with Cahoot recently. I was surprised when I found that they didn't offer the facility to export statements.
Lastly, a really useful addition would be an option to send an automatic receipt to customers via email when an invoice is paid. Something for the 'wish list' perhaps?

That's a really good idea which we'll definitely add to the 'wish list'.

Inappropriate?Forget that last comment. I see you can email the updated invoice showing that a payment has been made.
I never thought I would say this - I'm actually enjoying doing my accounts!
I’m excited

Inappropriate?once the bank transaction has been linked to the invoice the payment shows up on the invoice if you want to send it again as a makeshift receipt.
