how do I import data from externally generated invoices
I don't want to use FreeAgent to generate my invoices but obviously need to be able to import the equivalent data. I charge a daily consultancy rate so ideally just want a means of adding the days charged to a given project, linking it to the rate to come up with a total figure.

Inappropriate? So am I right in thinking you just want to use FreeAgent for the accounting and tax side?
You have a couple of options:
1. Create the invoices in FreeAgent anyway by using the time tracking/project facility. Obviously don't send the invoices but you can mark these as Paid and associate these with the appropriate bank transactions.
This will make sure the correct project amounts are totalled and reflected in your accounts.
2. Bypass the invoices together and just explain (or create) the bank transactions as Other Sales Income.
This will generate your accounts but not allow you to set project rates and time track.
Do either of these help you? Can I also ask why you don't want to use FreeAgent for invoicing? -
Inappropriate?Okay, I've gone for option 1. I'm having trouble with the invoices because I want to reflect the raised invoices which summarise by weeks not days, and the invoice date means additional timeslip entries get added which I didn't bill for until the next month.
I get the impression I could get round this by some labourious editting of included timeslips but was hoping there was an easier way.
I don't want to use FreeAgent for invoices because I am happy with the semi-auto-generated excel invoice I currently use.
