Preventing old tasks from appearing in timeslip dropdown menu
Is there any way to prevent old tasks from a project from appearing in the dropdown menu when timeslipping? For example, I might have done task "Adding report XX to website" six months ago, and don't want to have to search through it and another bunch of finished jobs to find the names of the tasks I'm currently working on. I don't want to delete the associated invoice, though, for order's sake.
We do a pretty wide variety of work, and the client likes us to invoice each item individually, so it's getting to be a pretty unwieldy and confusing menu of Everything We've Ever Done now, and is causing some mistakes in timeslipping (e.g. not noticing something has already been timeslipped and creating another task name for it). It would be nice to be able to mark a task as completed once it is no longer active.
Thanks!

Inappropriate?Hi Sarah,
Thanks for the feedback.
We never really intended tasks to be used in the way you are using them i.e. one-off things to be marked off the list. Our idea was that they were mainly reusable and generic tasks like "report design" or "template creation".
We do need to overhaul the management of task and projects though, and when we do this we will look to include:
- Global tasks which can be used across all projects
- Project specific tasks
- The ability to manage tasks, so you would be able to edit or delete old unused tasks
- Setting different billing rates for different tasks
- Having tasks which are not billable
This should help you a lot.
I can't give a timescale for this, but we are actively thinking about it. -
Inappropriate?Brilliant, thanks Roan. We have other clients where we can use tasks as intended, but one client needs greater granularity but only a single invoice, so it gets messy at times!
Looking forward to seeing the changes you make,
Sarah
I’m looking forward to the improvements

Inappropriate?Any movement on this yet? It's been five months since the last reply and our list of one off tasks is getting even longer!
I’m buried in tasks!
