Setting up payroll dates
I'm setting up my payroll to match the information provided me by my accountants.
I would like to pre-date this to start at the beginning of our tax year - 06/04/09.
Our payslips are dated the last day of the month, so the 1st is on 30/04/09, 2nd is on 31/05/09 and so on.
Initially, I set up the payroll from the 30/04/09 which seemed to produce the right results, but obviously several months were a day early. I tried to amend the second payslip to the 31/05/09, which got your 'last day of the month' system kicked in, but this has altered the tax figures, presumably because I am a day out, tax-wise.
Therefore, I think my question is 'Can I set up payslips for the last day of the month, even if my first payslip is 30th April'?

Inappropriate?Hi Toby,
At the moment you would need to manually adjust the dates of any payslips for months that don't end on the 30th, as we don't have a "last day of the month" option.
I tested this for you on a test account, and the tax on May's payslip didn't change when I altered the date to 31/05/09 from 30/05/09. Could you try this again and let us know if you still have a problem with it?
Kind regards,
Emily -
Inappropriate?Hi Emily,
You do have a last day of the month option, you just can't set it up in April!
If for instance, I start the payroll on 31-05-09, then it correctly assigns the future slips to the last day, if the month has less than 31 days.
My description of what I did wasn't very clear, I didn't edit the second payslip to change the date, I revised the Payroll from 31-05, but this left me with an extra payslip on the 30-05.
I see if I just edit the individual payslips to change the date, that doesn't affect FAC's calculations, so i'll just do that, it's no biggie.
but am I all right to start the payroll on the 30th April if my tax year begins 06 April? -
Inappropriate?Hi Toby,
Aha - now I see what you mean!
You should be perfectly OK to start the payroll on 30th April as that will give you a payslip for every month of the tax year.
If any problems do crop up with it, do let us know so we can help.
Kind regards,
Emily
