Uploading from a Spreadsheet
Hi,
I have been maintaining my books in my very own spreadsheet. I would like to load this into FreeAgent, but I need to know the details of the CSV formats FreeAgent supports so I can export my spreadsheet in the correct format and then upload it into FreeAgent.
Is that something you can do? Note I cannot download from my bank account, as HSBC only keep records online for 3 months...

Inappropriate?Karen,
At the moment we only directly support the upload of raw bank transactions.
However we're working on allowing import of bank account entries (like cashbook entries) in csv format if you need to bring in your current year's data.
The format will be based on a revised version of the Excel export files we already allow you to export, but the facility will not be added for a couple of months at the earliest.
Having said that, Karen, if you can send us your existing spreadsheet we'll have a go at bringing it into your account. It'll give us a good insight into what people are wanting to do.
You can send it to ed at freeagentcentral dot com, where it will remain confidential of course, and will be destroyed securely once we've got your data in.
How does that sound?

Inappropriate?I just spent two days of my life programming the API in order to upload several hundred expenses. It wasn't easy, but it is possible. I'm happy to share my experiences with anyone would like to know how it was done.
On the other hand, if I'd seen Ed's reply beforehand, I would have happily sent my spreadsheet to more capable boffins. -
Inappropriate?Hi DJ,
We'd love to hear about your experiences and will happily promote what you've done to other users if you'd like.
I can see it being a popular addition to our growing list of tools.
Thanks for taking the time.
