VAT return due date slightly wrong?
The VAT return due dates shown in FAC seem to be slighty different from those on my VAT returns.
Example - my physical VAT return for the period December to February (Period 02 09) quotes a due date of 31/03/09
FACs timeline, however, has the due date for that quarter as 7th April.
I note that FAC specifically indicates 'Electronic Return Date' - is this different from the due date assigned by HMRC for paper returns?
If so - would it be worth also showing a 'Paper Return Date'?
A fancier option - add a tick-box so I can indicate whether I'm registered with HMRC for on-line VAT returns, and then adjust the due date accordingly!

Inappropriate?Hi Charles
You're right -- FreeAgent uses the electronic return date which gives you an extra 7 days to pay over the paper return, which is HMRC's way of making us move over to filing and paying electronically.
We'll have a chat about your ideas but it's worth noting that HMRC plan on phasing out paper returns from next year!
