What would make me migrate from Freshbooks?
I am currently using Freshbooks. Free Agent looks like a far more advanced system and I'd love to migrate, however, these things need to be in place before I can do so:
* Import of my existing clients, invoices and expenses from Freshbooks
* Full customisation of invoices (colours, fonts, logos, etc)
* Ability to send invoices via mail as PDF attachment to my client
* Ability for my clients to login and see their outstanding and paid invoices
* A status to show me whether a client has viewed an invoice
* Auto-emails to clients about overdue invoices
* Auto-recurring invoices
* Auto-recurring expenses
* Ability to create an invoice without the need for a project
* Full developers API so that I can syndicate key info on my business dashboard and write apps
Is all this supported?

Inappropriate?Hi Binary,
The short answer is we do about half of those, and are working on the rest.
In details:
* Import of existing clients: we don't support this at the minute, but we would like to.
* Customisation of invoices: Yes, you can create your own custom CSS files to style invoices
* PDF attachments: Yes, you can do this.
* Client login for invoices: No, you can't do this at the minute I'm afraid
* Auto-emails: Not right now, but it's in the pipeline
* Recurring invoices: Yes, you can do this
* Recurring expenses: Yes, you can do this too
* Invoice without project: not right now, but we've been discussing this lots over the last few days
* Full developers API: Yes, we have a developer API
So, as you can see we've got you covered on most things and are working on the rest. We're actively developing the app, and releasing on a fortnightly basis so there are new features coming on board all the time.
How does that sound? -
That sounds encouraging, although for me, I think I would really need the missing features to move over - and I really want to move over! It's just because it's what my existing client base is used to and expects, and I don't want to 'downgrade' so to speak. I suppose I could do the import of data myself but this would take some time writing a script to work with your API. I have signed up to your mailing list but I never saw anything about recurring expenses - must have missed that. Last time I checked it wasn't supported! Thanks. -
Do you know whether your team has committed to developing those missing features? Or perhaps if they have an expected release date? -
Inappropriate?Hi Binary
It's worth adding that you don't need to import all your existing data from Freshbooks to get up and running with FreeAgent. Instead, you can configure your accounting dates and opening balances for a specific time (say, the beginning of this tax year) and start afresh with FreeAgent. So you could be up and running by lunchtime! :-)
As Roan points out we don't yet support importing invoices and expenses from FreshBooks, but we do already support the import of contacts from Freshbooks and our Invoice Devkit allows you to design a custom invoice using CSS which you can save or automatically email as a high-quality PDF.
The other features you'd like are definitely on the roadmap, along with lots of other exciting additions which we hope will make FreeAgent even more attractive. We're moving pretty fast and we're committed to providing the best service possible for our customers, so I'm sure you won't have to wait too long until all the features you'd like are available.
I’m confident
