Hi Stuart. I am a director. But even though I indicate that I am a director, the HMRC CD-ROM application seems to allow me to choose to calculate my NICs either as an employee or as a director. I was under the impression that I could choose either, because the *total* NICs due over the tax year are the same either way - the only difference is that the employee NIC calculation means you pay the same amount each month, whereas the director NIC calculation means you may pay different amounts each month. Have I misunderstood something? -

Payroll with a tax code on a "week 1" basisI want to set up a payroll from part way through the tax year. HMRC have told me to use a tax code of 647L on a "week 1" basis. Is there a way to say that my tax code should be applied on a "week 1" basis? Thanks.
